Despacito the song of Puerto Rican singer Luis Fonsi together with Daddy Yankee was released in 2017. It became the number streamed song at that in just six months. It was a combination of pop and reggaeton that has not only attracted new attention to reggaeton, but also the popularity of Latin music. Billboard's Top 100 had four songs in 2016, compared to two in 2015. At the peak of Despacito's popularity in 2017 however 19 predominantly Spanish songs made it onto the Top 100 for 2020. there were 41 such songs. In the wake of Justin Bieber's dual remix of Despacito (2017) the most well-known musicians have begun collaborating with reggaeton performers including Drake together with Bad Bunny on MIA (2018) and Madonna along with Maluma with Maluma on Medellin (2019). A few performers of reggaeton expressed their displeasure at the rise of popular music by 2020. Yet a new group, Rauw alejandro, was determined to alter the direction of music. The genre often incorporated elements of other genres and electronic dance.
