Arianna Huffington
Arianna Stassinopoulos Huffington has been a Greek American columnist, author and businesswoman for over 20 years. She co-founded The Huffington Post, is the chief executive officer and co-founder of Thrive Global as well an author of fifteen novels. Arianna Huffington is a writer, television personality, philanthropist and also the proprietor and publisher of The Huffington Post. Originally from Greece Arianna Huffington emigrated to England with her family at 16 years old. While at Cambridge University she earned a MA Degree in Economics. Being the first non-English-speaking student, she was elected President of The Cambridge Union' at the age of 21. Following graduation, she left her name as columnist in the conservative syndicated media as well as with the introduction of The Huffington Post' few years later, she developed an online voice portal which offered critical observations on the political scenario. Her popularity enabled her to get a variety of famous people to share their opinions regarding current affairs, the culture and politics. Arianna first gained notoriety in 2003 as she stood for California's recall election, in the place of Governor Davis. Also, she was the head of a Detroit fuel-efficient car project. In 2009 she was recognized by Forbes as The most influential female media personality, taking the 12th position on their list and in the same year, the Guardian included her in the top 100 of media lists. AOL Inc. acquired The Huffington Post, and she became president of the media company. The acquisition included a number of AOL properties of that time, including Engadget AOL style list and Patch Media. Elli was the daughter of Konstantinos the Journalism and management expert. She was very close with her father. However, it was her bond with her mother which has shaped her. In her earliest years she showed leadership abilities that are still highly regarded. At the age of 16, she moved over to England in the United Kingdom for her higher education. She attended Girton College Cambridge. In college, she was a member of the Cambridge Union, a college debate group. The third female president, and also the first foreigner she held the position of head of the Cambridge Union. In 1972 she received a degree in Economics. Following her graduation, she was employed as a columnist critic, and an anchor on TV. Also, she appeared on the show Face the music along with Bernard Levin and began writing books with editorial assistance from Bernard Levin.
