Anna Paquin
Anna Paquin was born in Winnipeg and raised in Wellington. She began her acting career as Flora McGrath in The romantic-drama film Piano. Paquin, born in Winnipeg and raised by Wellington Paquin's mother, made her acting debut as Flora McGrath. For this role she received an Academy Award of Best Supporting Actress in The romantic drama The Piano at the young age of 11. She was the second youngest winner in Oscar History. Anna Paquin's full title is Anna Helene Paquin. Born July 24th 1982 on the 24th of July 1982 in Winnipeg Manitoba Canada, she was the first Canadian born New Zealand actress. As a child, Paquin won an Academy Award for best support actress. Her performance as the talkative and inquisitive young girl Holly Hunter played in The Piano (1993) brought her the honor. Her family moved to New Zealand when she was as a young child, and lived there for the rest of her life. When she answered an open audition call and was selected for the part, she was cast in the role of Flora McGrath, the daughter of a deaf Scottish piano player who moves into New Zealand in mid-19th-century to be married. It was her first role at the age of nine, and she had no prior experience in acting. When she moved to the United States, she became an adolescent. Paquin was Jane Eyre's protagonist as a teenager in Franco Zeffirelli's Jane Eyre (2000) as well as her main character for the character in Fly Away Home (2000). Paquin was a part-time actress in the TV film of 1997 adaption to Carson McCullers' novel The Member of the Wedding. Also, she played Queen of Spain in Steven Spielberg's Amistad (2007). She was a teenager as teenagers in Hurlyburly (1998) She's All That (1999) and A Walk on the Moon (1999) and played the groupie Polexia Aphrodisa on the screen in Almost Famous (2000).
